K-pop singers from TREASURE and BTOB test positive for COVID-19

By Bianca Geli

As South Korea grapples with a new coronavirus wave, more young people are contracting the disease, including celebrities.

Members of K-pop boy bands TREASURE and BTOB have recently tested positive for the coronavirus.

TREASURE members Doyoung and Jung-hwan tested positive on July 13 and 16 respectively while BTOB's Minhyuk tested positive on July 17.

Doyoung disclosed that he found out he is positive after using an at-home COVID-19 test prior to a work-related event. This is a known common preventive measure in Korea especially for celebrities.

The other members of TREASURE and their staff are self-isolating as per the country's guidelines.

Minhyuk underwent testing for COVID-19 after coming in contact with his vocal teacher who tested positive for the virus on July 13. He did self-quarantine and initially tested negative twice.

On July 16, Minhyuk showed signs of cough and a fever. He tested positive for the coronavirus on July 17.

Earlier this month, Noir's Kim Min-hyuk tested positive.

Other Korean celebrities have either tested positive or entered quarantine over the past month, including Infinite's Kim Sung-kyu, Chungha, Seo In-young, ATEEZ's San, and (G)I-dle's Minnie.
