'Scorpio Nights' actor Orestes Ojeda passes away

Orestes Ojeda has died at the age of 65.

The soft-spoken actor reportedly succumbed to pancreatic cancer on Tuesday, July 27, in a hospital in Taguig City.

Born in Cagayan Valley on January 3, 1956, Orestes, whose real name was Luis Pagalilauan, joined show business at the age of 17.

He was seen in the movies Isang Gabi, Tatlong Babae! (1974), Ang Boyfriend Kong Baduy (1976), Inay (1977), Manila By Night (1980), Dekada '70 (2002), Mano Po 2: My Home (2003), among many others.

Movie fans best remember him for his portrayal of a security guard in the 1985 erotic thriller, Scorpio Nights, directed by Peque Gallaga.

Orestes also appeared on television including the GMA series Te Amo, Maging Sino Ka Man (2004), and Once Upon a Kiss (2015).

Outside showbiz, Orestes dabbled in painting and ran his own art galleries Art Cube and Art Verité featuring works by veteran and young artists.
