Julie Anne San Jose talks about her Mindanao visit, New York billboard

Asia's Pop Diva Julie Anne San Jose had a taste of how it is to travel in the new normal when she flew to Mindanao recently for a secret project.

“I went there po sa Mindanao for a shoot and to travel, explore ng konti. It was a great experience, I really had fun,” Julie Ann told 24 Oras Nelson Canlas in a virtual interview.

Julie Anne couldn't help but notice how the pandemic changed the once robust travel industry as people's movement remains restricted due to the threat of the coronavirus.

“It was a weird feeling kasi parang ang tagal na, e. Ang tagal ko talagang hindi nakalabas or nakaalis dito ng Manila,” confided Julie Anne.

“Of course, kailangan pa rin mag-observe talaga ng protocols. Tsaka kailangan mas maging maingat kasi may pandemic pa rin.”

She continued, “Ang laking difference, sobra. Kasi dati sobrang busy ng airport ngayon parang 'wow, airport ba 'to?'”

Meanwhile, Julie Anne need not travel to the States to make her presence felt there.

Julie Anne was featured in a towering electronic billboard in the famous Times Square in New York City.

The billboard is for the music streaming platform Spotify.

Julie Anne is the cover of Spotify Philippines' EQUAL playlist. EQUAL was designed by Spotify as a platform to highlight female artists to foster gender equality in the music scene.

Through this, the popular streaming platform hopes to provide more opportunities for women creators to be heard and appreciated by a wider audience.

“A lot of people were congratulating me. Siyempre thankful talaga ko na parang nabigyan din ng recognition 'yong isa sa mga songs ko and ako sa international scene.

“It's just so surreal and really unexpected tsaka dream come true talaga siya.”
