Filipina, the Miss Universe Philippines crown

Every facet of the Miss Universe Philippines crown has a meaning behind it.

To the contestants vying for the Miss Universe Philippines title, the crown is a symbol of their hard work being rewarded and their dreams being fulfilled. But did you know that the parts of the crown actually stand for something as well?

First revealed in 2020 by Miss Universe Philippines, the “Filipina” crown has diamonds, gold South Sea pearls, a sapphire, ruby, and a topaz. It's estimated to be worth PhP5 million and was made by Villarica Pawnshop along with an all-female staff.

Aside from being a stunning piece of jewelry, each facet of the crown's design has a meaning behind it, as explained by Miss Universe Philippines' Instagram post during its unveiling.

The sapphire, ruby, and topaz of the crown represent the Philippine flag, while the pearls represent “creativity, intelligence, optimism and fear of God.” The diamonds, on the other hand, are meant to stand for the smiles of the people that the winning candidate will encounter during her reign. Finally, the crown's swirl of leaves represents the different forms of success that the Filipina seeks while keeping Filipino values in her heart.

This year's Miss Universe Philippines coronation night will be held on September 30 at the Henann Resort Convention Center in Panglao, Bohol. Twenty-eight candidates are vying to be the successor of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo.

Some of the contestants for this year's pageant include Kisses Delavin and Maureen Wroblewitz.
