Michelle Dee dedicates first acting award to parents, Melanie Marquez and Derek Dee

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

Beauty queen-turned-actress Michelle Dee won her first acting award as she was hailed Best New Movie Actress of the Year at the recently concluded 36th PMPC Star Awards for Movies.

Aside from Michelle, Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards and Kapuso Chinito Heartthrob David Licauco also took home the Movie Actor of the Year and New Movie Actor of the Year awards, respectively.

In her acceptance video, the I Left My Heart in Sorsogon actress dedicated her award to her parents, Miss International 1979 Melanie Marquez and Derek Dee.

She said, "Napakalaking karangalan po nito specially because 'Because I Love You' is actually one of the first films that I shot throughout my acting career kaya nakakataba po talaga ng puso."

"I'd like to thank everyone who supported me and I'd also like to thank Direk Joel Lamangan for your guidance throughout the film kasi without you, hindi ko 'to mahahawakan. Iba pala 'yung feeling 'pag hawak mo na 'yung trophy.

"But I would like to dedicate this award actually to my parents, Melanie Marquez and Derek Dee, for their unwavering support throughout my career."
