Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez, masayang mas inclusive at diverse na ang pageants ngayon

Si Beatrice Luigi Gomez mula sa Cebu City ang hinirang bilang Miss Universe Philippines 2021.

Bukod sa pagiging isang beauty queen, isa ring community development worker, Philippine Navy Reservist, out and proud member of of he LGBTQIA+, at fitness enthusiast si Beatrice.

Ayon sa kanya, sumabak siya sa extra training and classes para maging pulido ang performance niya sa pageant.

"Many times na nakakapaghina din minsan kasi 'yung mga bashing, the criticism online. Pero when you read all the positive comments, thats when you feel a lot more better, more confident," pahayag niya.

May special lucky charm din daw siya na lagi niyang bitbit na nagdadala sa kanya ng inspirasyon.

"The lucky charm that I have with me right now is the rosary that my sister gave me. It's actually from the Vatican so it's quite special and I'm always reminded of what I'm here for," aniya.

Aminado din siya na na hindi pagiging beauty queen ang una niyang pinangarap para sa sarili.

"My childhood dream was to be a missionary. 'Yung feeling na it's fulfilling to serve othres, parang aligned siya with what I do as a community development worker," kuwento ni Beatrice.

Full support ang ibinigay ng pamilya ni Beatice at ng kanyang girlfriend na si Kate Jagdon, na isang DJ.

"It's a breakthrough for the pageant world that are accepting people like me. They're being more diverse and inclusive every year," papuri niya.

Sa ngayon, maghahanda na si Beatrice para sa Miss Universe Pageant na gaganapin sa December. Isa sa paghahanda niya ang pagtutok sa kanyang personal advocacies tulad ng youth involvement and empowerment.

"Embrace whatever skills you have because that will get you through life. You develop that skill and you reach for your goals kasi 'yun 'yung magiging anchor mo, whatever you are going through in life," paghihikayat niya.
