
Film producer Lily Monteverde, or popularly known as Mother Lily, is among those who are happy about the news on reopening of cinemas in Metro Manila.
On October 13, the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) has downgraded the National Capital Region (NCR) to Alert Level 3. In connection to this, movie theaters in Metro Manila have been allowed to reopen starting today, October 16.
Cinemas was initially ordered to be closed at the start of the pandemic in March 2020. In March 2021, movie theaters were allowed to reopen, but the operations were halted again due to another surge of COVID-19 cases.
In a statement, the well known local movie producer expressed her support for this move.
"Opening of movie theaters & Phil economy will give second life to Phil. movie industry, this good news will surely revive our movie industry which has suffered during this pandemic lockdown," Mother Lily said during the 7th World Pandesal Day held earlier, October 16.
She also promised to continue producing movie as well as TV shows to support the showbiz industry, which has been greatly affected by the pandemic.
"I and Regal shall keep producing more films & TV shows. We have tie-up also with GMA Network, we shall cooperation for new projects."
"I am very optimistic that Philippine movies will bounce back & become better. Let us help revive our movies, our theaters, our entertainment industry as a whole including concerts, shows. Let us support revival and opening of the Philippine economy. Keep safe and revive our economy," she said.
