IU pens heartfelt message for Uaena ahead of her comeback single 'Strawberry Moon'
South Korean star IU is scheduled to make a long-awaited comeback with "Strawberry Moon" on October 19, 2021 at 12 a.m. (KST). This will be her first comeback since the release of her fifth studio album LILAC in March 2021.
Ahead of her comeback, IU prepared a letter for her fans, "Uaenas," to remind them not to feel worried about the song being released at midnight.
IU wrote, "Really miss you guys. I prepared for this song really excitedly this time! It's been a while since I worked on a project like this without any pressure. I was hoping to convey such things to Uaenas. Many Uaenas seem to be worried about the song being released at midnight because of the scores (charts).”
She continued, "But to be honest, I hope our Uaenas won't be too stressed because of the charts. I just hope you'll enjoy listening to the song if you like it. I hope that you'll go to bed in a good mood after listening to the song. That's really all I ask of Uaenas this time."
Unlike most releases, IU is choosing to drop the single at midnight, sacrificing the music charts results.
"Sometimes, I feel that it's a pity that even though they are my scores (charts), Uaenas seem to be more concerned and more stressed than me. For me, at this point, it might be difficult to do even better on the charts in the future. I think of it as something only natural because I've honestly already enjoyed it a lot," she added.
In the letter, IU also mentioned her recent interview, answering the question, "Someday, what if people don't listen to IU's songs as much anymore?"
IU shared, "I'm honestly fine if some day, I become a singer that is not as popular, as long as Uaenas listen to my songs!”
"I might have even more freedom than I do now, to be able to do more different genres of music. It's just you guys so you don't need to feel sad from worrying about me! In case you're not just worried about my feelings, I'll work harder to make songs that people will like, to the best of my abilities, so don't worry about that either! This time, don't worry about anything and just enjoy the song."
With this song, IU wants "Uaenas" to just enjoy the song and have a good sleep without any concern about the music charts results.
"Whenever I release an album or digital single, I feel like I'm loading you guys with happiness and worry at the same time, so it makes me nervous. I wish you guys could just be hyped about it! Will you be able to do that for me?” she said.
"Have a heart-fluttering day today with no stress, listen to strawberry moon at midnight feeling happier than anyone else and don't give up on sleep to stream the song, just go to bed! And listen to the song again when you wake up in the morning.”
"I hope the moon is shining brightly tomorrow. I'm always so grateful towards all of you," IU said.
