Film critic and writer-turned-filmmaker Dodo Dayao's Midnight In A Perfect World continues to receive accolades here and abroad.
After receiving a Special Mention of the Jury from the 2021 Fantasia International Film Festival in Canada and winning the Best Sound award at the 44th Gawad Urian, the movie was part of the official selection at this year's TOHorror Fantastic Film Fest in Italy.
Midnight In A Perfect World bagged the Best Film award in the said international film fest and, fortunately, one of its lead stars, Glaiza De Castro, who is currently in Italy, took pride in accepting the award and presenting the team behind the critically acclaimed local horror film.
Produced by Globe Studios & Epicmedia, Midnight In A Perfect World was first screened at the QCinema International Film Festival in 2020. It was then released online via streaming site UPSTREAM.ph early this year.
The movie follows four friends, played by Glaiza, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Dino Pastrano, and Anthony Falcon, who find themselves getting caught out in a mysterious electrical blackout that happens after midnight.
As the city lights start going out one by one, they manage to take refuge inside what looks like a designated safe house.
Midnight In A Perfect World also stars Bing Pimentel, Soliman Cruz, Dolly De Leon, Charles Aaron Salazar, and Brian Sy.
