'Carrot Man' Jeyrick Sigmaton wins best actor award in a New York-based International film festival

From being an internet sensation, Jeyrick Sigmaton, who became famous as "Carrot Man," is now an internationally-acclaimed actor as he won the Best Actor award for short film at the International Film Festival Manhattan Autumn in New York.

Jeyrick starred in the short film Dayas, which focuses on the lives of small-scale Igorot miners in the mountains of Itogon, Benguet.

On behalf of Jeyrick, Dayas director Jianlin De Los Santos Floresca thanked the film festival for the award.

She said, "We're very thankful to have the best actor award for Jeyrick Sigmaton so in behalf of my actor and the entire cast of Sine Cordillera Dayas, and also in behalf of all Igorots all over the world, bagi tayo daytoy (this is ours)."

Aside from Jeyrick, several Filipinos won in different categories, and one of them them was Janice De Belen who took home the Best Actress Short Film award.
