Julie Anne San Jose on the musical 'Still': 'It's just amazing how it all fell into place'

Asia's Limitless Star, Julie Anne San Jose, couldn't help but feel nostalgic a day before the premiere of the musical narrative, Still.

The musical, which drops today (October 12) on the streaming platform Viu, tells the story of a group of artists stranded in a music camp during the pandemic.

Isolated and stuck in the company of each other, friendship blooms along with the journey to self-discovery, all happening with music serving as the backdrop every step of the way.

On Instagram, Julie Anne looked back on the journey that led her to the musical series that was created under the theme of the current times.

“I'm truly blessed and grateful; it makes me proud I took this opportunity and auditioned for a (Laura) role,” wrote Julie Anne, who got wind of the project in January. “No lie, it's far different from how I am in real life LOL, but I guess that's the beauty of portraying roles: you get to dress up as another person and try on other people's shoes.”

In a recent press conference, Julie Anne told reporters that while her real-life personality contradicts that of Laura, they do share some common traits.

“We both fight for what we want for our dreams, for our families,” she said thoughtfully.

Julie Anne said it's amazing “how it all fell into place” and she's proud to have witnessed the project's development since day one.

“I didn't realize this project's truly one of a kind till it came to life. It's been quite a challenge. As we were filming it, everyone's performances were impeccable and I never saw a false note anywhere,” she reflected.

“I felt extremely motivated every single day as we worked on this incredible masterpiece and to be able to produce high-quality content.”

Julie Anne went on to thank the people behind Still and the entire cast, whom she all called “family.”

She also expressed gratitude to GMA Network for giving their blessing so that she could participate in the musical.

Julie Anne ended her post with some encouraging words, which is also the message that the musical wants to impart to its viewers.

“We want to be able to give you inspiration and hope through our series. We don't know what is ahead for all of us in the future now,” said Julie Anne. “Yet, we are still fighting, dreaming, and living. We are still here.”

Joining Julie Anne in Still are Bituin Escalante, Gab Pangilinan, and Christian Bautista.
