Shawn Mendes released his first breakup ballad 'It'll Be Okay' following his breakup with two-year girlfriend Camila Cabello.

Hours ahead of the song's release, the Canadian singer-songwriter shared a photo of a radiant sun by the beach, saying: “It feels like I haven't truly connected with you guys in a while. I miss you. I hope you love this song.”

Shawn also took to Instagram to tease the track through a 12-second clip of him singing, “Are we gonna make it? / Is this gonna hurt?”

"It'll be okay" arrived two weeks after the former couple confirmed their split through an Instagram story.

“We've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever. We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward," they posted.

In his 2020 documentary Shawn Mendes: In Wonder, the “Stitches” hitmaker revealed that every song he has ever written has always been about Camila.

"My song comes on the radio or something and I'm like, 'Everything's about you. They have always been about you. She goes, 'What do you mean?' Like, 'They're all about you. Like every song I've ever [written],'" he said.

The "Senorita" singers met in 2014, but only began dating in July 2019.
