The timeless Gloria Romero shines in Forever
Hailed as one of the most iconic actresses of her generation, there is still no stopping Ms. Gloria Romero from reaching new heights. Her acting career, which has spanned for more than 60 years, has given her countless memorable roles. Now, another highlight of Ms. Romero’s career comes forth as she breathes life into the lovelorn Adora in the GMA teleserye, Forever which will premiere this January 21.
Forever revolves around the love story of Adora and Ramon. Adora is the only daughter of a wealthy sugar plantation owner, while Ramon is but a simple plantation worker. They fall in love, but Adora’s father, Don Jaime disapproves of their relationship. Their forbidden love leads to Ramon’s eventual death. This, however is not the end for the star-crossed lovers. They get the chance to reunite when an old lady gives Adora an antique pocket clock that could bring back her youth. Fast forward to the present, Adora, in the guise of her younger self, gets to reunite with Ramon in the person of the charismatic artist, Patrick.
As the present day Adora, Gloria Romero shares in an interview with Startalk TX that, “When I was shooting the other day, mayroon akong mga eksenang mabigat and I was on the set, and I remembered again my younger days.” The nostalgic feel of Forever makes Ms. Romero reminisce about past memories that help her internalize for her role. “Ito ay istorya ng wakas na pagmamahalan. Nakakainggit yung istorya kasi nung binabasa ko yung script medyo naiyak-iyak ako. At the same time, sabi ko, wow, ang sarap na umibig ng ganyan.” Ms. Gloria eagerly shares.“ I’m lucky na kinuha nila ako dito”, she adds.
When asked about what moment from the past she would like to bring back, Ms. Gloria fondly recalls, “Siguro noong nag-aaral ako, at wala akong pinangarap kung hind imaging isang artista.” Having lived her dream and having made a mark in the industry, Gloria had this to say about the present generation of actors and actresses, including her Forever co-star, Heart Evangelista: “ Saludo ako sa mga young stars ngayon. Why? Ang dami nilang ginagawa. Tignan ninyo si Ms. Heart (Evangelista), puyat na puyat dahil ang daming ginagawa everyday. Masisipag sila.”
