SB19 chosen as NCCA's youth ambassadors

By Beatrice Pinlac

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) has named P-pop powerhouse SB19 as its newest Youth and Sentro Rizal Ambassadors, noting their active involvement in representing Filipino culture and stories in the global scene.

On Thursday, NCCA lauded the five-piece supergroup for participating in the organization's activities, including the annual celebration of the Philippine-Korea Cultural Exchange Festival, Kalayaan 2021: Celebrating Partnership and Humanity, and many more.

NCCA also explained that the P-pop band was also awarded this honor because of their “genuine care for advocacies [that] uplift the Filipino spirit, music, and culture to the global scene, which is in line with the NCCA's mandate to promote Philippine arts and culture worldwide.”

Sentro Rizal (SR) is the country's cultural center for overseas Filipinos and other individuals interested in Filipino culture. Currently, SR has expanded to 35 countries and is gearing to open another site in New York City.

Aside from being NCCA's Youth and Sentro Rizal Ambassadors, SB19 has also achieved more career milestones this year as they cemented their music in more global charts and staged their first concert at the Big Dome.
