Hugh Jackman recovers from COVID-19 and is back on Broadway

By Racquel Quieta

Much like his iconic character Wolverine, Hugh Jackman, seems to have been blessed with an extraordinary healing power, as he has already recovered from COVID-19 a little over a week after he first announced that he tested positive.

You read that right. Hugh, the star of The Music Man, is back on Broadway after 10 days of his bout with COVID-19.

In a video he shared on January 6, Thursday, Hugh shared a video of himself entering the Winter Garden Theatre.

“I can't tell you how good this moment feels. Yes! We're back,” he said in the video.

He then went on to apologize to people who had bought tickets for the shows scheduled during the last 10 days, which were canceled because he was still recovering from the disease.

“To all those people who had tickets for the last 10 days, I'm so sorry. I hope, I pray that you'll have a chance to reschedule,” Hugh stated.

The two-time Tony award winner also expressed how elated he is to have bounced back from COVID-19.

“I'm so excited to be back and to bring this show, which is just pure joy and full of hope, and belief, and faith. Back to Broadway,” he said cheerfully.

He ended the video with a positive message for everyone at Broadway and to all his followers.

“To all the shows in Broadway, I'm thinking of you all. And everyone, stay safe. Be kind to each other and look forward to seeing you soon.”

Hugh announced that he had contracted COVID-19 back on December 29.

In a video shared on his social media, he said he tested positive for COVID-19 that morning, and that his symptoms were like a cold, scratchy throat, and a bit of a runny nose.

He said he was fine and promised to be back to star in the revival of The Music Man as Harold Hill as soon as he can.

Here are some Filipino celebrities who, like Hugh Jackman, are COVID-19 survivors.
