Icons, rising stars work together in ‘Unforgettable’

The press conference of the latest GMA Afternoon Prime drama, Unforgettable was held last February 20.  Showcasing the talents of respected film icons and rising stars of this generation, the romantic fantasy features Kylie Padilla’s comeback as she acts opposite Mark Herras in the highly anticipated project with Pauleen Luna and Benjamin Alves.

Unforgettable also marks the reunion of Lino Brocka babies, Phillip Salvador and Carmi Martin with the afternoon soap’s director, Gina Alajar.

Kylie Padilla and Mark Herras play lovers Anna and Ed in the story. Their happiness will be cut short when a tragedy turns Ed into a disembodied spirit. The plot thickens as Anna is held responsible for what happened to Ed, and is imprisoned. As Ed’s soul wanders, Anna becomes the object of affection of Miguel (Benjamin Alves), whose sister Connie (Pauleen Luna) was secretly in love with Ed while he was still alive.

Phillip Salvador plays prominent lawyer, Atty. Manuel de Ocampo and Carmi Martin plays his kind-hearted wife, Concha. They are Miguel and Connie's parents.

Award-winning actor Phillip Salvador shares, “I’m grateful na cast ako sa proyektong ito. Nang malaman ko na nagdidirect na si Regina (Gina Alajar), gusto ko talaga ma-direct niya ako. Dream come true ito. Like I’ve been saying since the very beginning, she’s my favorite leading lady, and now she’s directing me. It’s really great.”

Seasoned actress Carmi Martin is also very excited to work under the direction of Gina Alajar. She states, “Nakakatense na alam mong kailangan galingan mo dahil magaling siyang artista at director at kumare ko pa. Siyempre, I’m very excited kasi ngayon niya lang ako nadirect na siya mismo ‘yung head director. Iba talaga ‘yung feeling pero kumportable ako to work with her.”

Likewise, iconic actress-director Gina Alajar is thrilled to work with the cream of the crop of her generation again. “Ang galing galing ni Phillip (Salvador), totoo ‘yan. I’m so pleased with his work at saka I’m proud to say na nakikinig siya. Wala siyang air…and he does it, kaya bow ako sa kanya. Napakagaling din nina Carmi (Martin) at Glydel (Mercado),” she praises.

Direk Gina adds, “I’m very, very happy with this project. I’m very excited. Magagaling ang mga cast ko. Magaling si Kylie. I’m very pleased with her work. Magaling si Mark at iyong mga kabataan. Pauleen Luna, you should watch her. She’s so different from (her role in) Magdalena. I think for them, it works na there are icons in the series kasi they are on their toes kung ano ‘yung gagawin.”
