Richard Gutierrez, Marian Rivera reunite in ‘My Lady Boss’

After their successful team-up in the 2008 box office hit, My Best Friend’s Girlfriend, Richard Gutierrez and Marian Rivera reunite in the big screen with their newest romantic comedy flick, My Lady Boss.
In the film, Richard Gutierrez plays Zach, a rich spoiled kid who needs a job to prove himself to his family. Marian Rivera plays Evelyn, Zach’s hard-shelled boss who will be the bane of his existence. Things get complicated when an office romance develops between the unlikely pair.
On a visit to the set of My Lady Boss, GMANetwork.com got to chat with the film’s lead stars. Both are excited to work with one another for this project. Richard shares, “After 5 years, finally, we get to do a movie. Very positive feedback and successful ‘yung first movie namin. Nagulat ako na ngayon lang din nasundan, pero at least we were given another opportunity to do a film. Pero ngayon, mas mature na ‘yung kuwento pero romantic comedy pa rin. “
Marian states that her working relationship with Richard is better than ever. She adds, “Mas lumalim ‘yung samahan naming dalawa. Akala ko kasi after ng BFGF (My Best Friend’s Girlfriend) na hindi kami nagkakasama sa soap or ngayon nalang kami magkakamovie, akala ko, kahit papaano magkakaroon ng wall, magkakahiyaan, pero unexpected na mas nagkaroon pa kami ng mas matinding bonding.”
When asked how different Marian is now compared to before, Richard had this to say, “Dati kasi, ‘nung ginawa naming ‘yung movie namin, parang kakastart lang ng Marimar, so I can say na medyo bago pa lang si Yan. Ngayon, makikita mo na iba na ‘yung growth niya as an actress. ‘Yung comic timing niya for me, pasok na pasok talaga kasi kahit off cam nakakatawa siya eh.”
Marian is glad to be able to show her funny side this time around. With her bubbly personality and positive outlook, her sense of humor just comes out naturally. The Temptation of Wife actress explains, “Siguro sabihin nalang natin na ang lola ko kasi ganito rin eh. Sa family namin, ganito kami eh. So siguro nadala ko iyon. Ang sarap kaya maging masaya at i-enjoy ang buhay.”
Along with the deeper friendship that Richard and Marian have in My Lady Boss, they also have more challenging characters and more daring scenes. According to Marian, “Siguro ngayon ‘yung right timing, right project after 5 years. Ito na ‘yung kabuuan at mas pinalalim ‘yung character naming dalawa at this time, may mga kissing scene at bed scene kaming dalawa.”
For Richard, it is refreshing that he and Marian get to contribute to the creative aspects of the project. He shares, “We talk to our director, Jade Castro about kung ano ‘yung pwede naming input. It’s like a collaboration kaya it’s working well so far.”
Marian reckons that My Lady Boss is something the audience should really watch out for. “Naniniwala ako, kapag ginawa mo ang isang pelikula o project na lahat positive at magaan, walang pressure at ineenjoy mo siya, nagrereflect sa movie ‘yan eh. For sure, dito, makikita ninyo yung reflection na sinasabi ko sa inyo,” says the Primetime Queen.
