Britney Spears to release tell-all memoir; signs $15M book deal

By Racquel Quieta

Three months after the termination of her conservatorship that lasted for almost 14 years, Britney Spears reportedly signed a whopping $15 million book deal for her tell-all memoir.

On Monday, Page Six reported that American publishing company Simon & Schuster had won the bidding war against multiple publishers for the pop icon's memoir.

The book deal is allegedly “record-breaking” as an unnamed source of Page Six said that “the deal is one of the biggest of all time, behind the Obamas.”

In 2017, former US President Barrack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama signed a $65 million deal with Penguin Random House for multiple books.

Britney's tell-all memoir is said to cover almost everything about the music icon's life, from her rise to fame to her tumultuous relationship with her family, and her whole ordeal under the conservatorship that her father, Jamie Spears, initiated in February 2008.

Britney and Simon & Schuster have yet to comment or reveal more details on her upcoming memoir.

Recently, Britney had been very vocal about how disappointed she is about some of the stories that her sister Jamie Lynn Spears allegedly made up and published in her book, claiming that her younger sister is “sell[ing] a book at my expense.”

On June 24 2021, during her 24-minute court statement via phone, the “I'm A Slave” singer made major revelations about her family and the abuses she allegedly suffered during the conservatorship.

And on September 29, 2021, Los Angeles Judge Brenda Penny announced the termination of Britney's conservatorship.

Last week, Britney shared that she had been invited to the US Congress by two members of the House of Representatives through a letter dated December 1, 2021 to share her “empowering” story and “the emotional and financial turmoil you faced within the conservatorship system.”

The “Stronger” singer revealed that she was “immediately flattered” by the invitation.

Britney also said, “I'm grateful that my story was even ACKNOWLEDGED!!! Because of the letter, I felt heard and like I mattered for the first time in my life!!! In a world where your own family goes against you, it's actually hard to find people that get it and show empathy.”
