Kokoy de Santos is the newest talent of Sparkle GMA Artist Center
Kokoy de Santos is ready to sparkle even more!
The heartthrob actor is now part of the star-studded line-up of Sparkle GMA Artist Center.
In his exclusive interview with the GMA internal press today, March 4, the Pepito Manaloto star shared his thoughts about this exciting new chapter in his promising career.
Kokoy told Kapuso showbiz reporter Lhar Santiago, “Sobrang iba! Iba 'yung pakiramdam ng puso ko at dahil nga matagal, matagal ko na rin tina-try Tito Lhar sa GMA Artist Center. Kumbaga, hindi pa siya Sparkle, at ngayon hindi ko inexpect talaga na ganitong kalaking tiwala 'yung ibinibigay sa akin. Sobrang grateful [and] happy.”
Meanwhile, Sparkle head and GMA Senior Assistant Vice President for Alternative Productions Gigi Santiago-Lara revealed what are the qualities they saw in Kokoy that they decided to get him.
Miss Gigi explained, “He's very talented. He's very charming. He knows how to make use of his assets, which is his smile, 'yung personality."
She also expressed her gratitude to Direk Perci Intalan, who co-manages the young actor.
“We are very thankful actually kina Direk Perci Intalan for agreeing to entrust him to us also, so dalawa kami magkahawak kamay dito.”
Now, he's officially a Kapuso, Kokoy wants to focus more on further honing his acting skills because he's hungry to learn more about his craft.
“Siyempre, in general, siguro 'yung pag-arte. Lagi akong gutom sa mga bagong aral na makukuha ko sa mga katrabaho ko rin, direktor, aktor, sa lahat.” the Sparkle artist said.
During the interview, he also shared the types of projects he would like to do in the future.
Kokoy told GMANetwork.com, “Pero specific na genre, wala pa naman. Pero 'yung nabanggit mo nga na action, ba, puwede 'yan!
“Mga bakbakan na ganun, 'yung mga barilan. Bakit hindi? 'Tapos may konting romance 'di ba, so comedy pa rin. Gumawa ng sariling [kuwento] [laughs]. Pero willing ako siyempre.”
'Bubble Gang' and 'Pepito Manaloto'
Aside from landing the role of young Patrick in Pepito Manaloto: Ang Unang Kuwento, Kokoy is also the newest Kababol in the longest-running gag show Bubble Gang.
Kokoy admitted that he felt the pressure to deliver in the two-flagship programs of GMA-7.
He said, “Siyempre nung una, nandoon 'yung kaba. Nandoon 'yung pressure lahat, kasi alam naman natin na 'Bubble Gang,' longest-running comedy-gag show. At siyempre 'Pepito Manaloto' rin, napakatagl nito. Nandoon ['yung pressure], pero sabi ko nga tiwala lang talaga at lahat ng mga scenes, at mga kasama ko doon kumbaga inaalay ko.”
The young actor also credited the production teams of the two shows for helping him a lot during their tapings.
“Talagang kumo-connect ako palagi at 'yun din ang sobrang happy ko, kasi lahat sila, tsaka 'yung prod mismo sobrang alaga na hindi ka mahihiya ilabas 'yung nasa loob mo. Kumbaga hindi ako nahihiya na i-deliver kung ano man 'yung nasa isip ko.”
