Prior to releasing his apology to comedian Chris Rock and the entire Oscars, controversial singer-actor Will Smith seemed to enjoy his big win despite his infamous outburst when he was spotted dancing to his own music as if nothing happened.
At the after party, Will danced and sang to his 1997 hit “Gettin' Jiggy With it” while the cameras all focused on him.
Will scored worldwide attention when he took the stage and smacked Chris right on the face over a supposed joke by the comedian about his wife Jada Pinkett-Smith. The Men in Black star thereafter hurled expletives warning Chris against referencing his wife's name ever again.
Reportedly, Chris does not intend to file charges against the actor according to a statement by the Los Angeles Police Department. Although, he could always file it anytime he wishes in the future.
Not long after however, Will issued an apology to Chris, the distinguished attendees of the Oscars and most especially, the billions around the globe who witnessed and heard his crisp slap.
Admittedly, he agreed that “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behavior at last night's Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable.”
Meanwhile, the award-giving body has announced that it has formally opened an investigation to look into possible corrective measures for what happened.
Hollywood stars also expressed their condemnation over use of violence especially in such a public forum like the Oscars.
