Veteran actor Miguel Faustmann has passed away

Veteran theater, film, and TV actor Miguel Faustmann passed on Sunday, May 15.

The sad news was confirmed by his brother, Juan Luis Faustmann, in a Facebook post on Monday.

He wrote, "We are deeply saddened we have lost our brother Miguel who passed away peacefully in his sleep on the 15th May. We will share more information on his memorial service in the coming days."

Since 1970s, Miguel has been a regular in many stage productions of Repertory Philippines. He has portrayed notable characters in iconic stage plays such as King Arthur in Camelot, Monsieur Thernadier in Les Miserables, and Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha. Miguel also played the role of Juan Peron in Evita, Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, and Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol.

The 67-year-old theater actor was also successful in crossing over television. In GMA Network, MIguel can be remembered as the first actor who played the role Bathalang Emre, the god worshipped by the Diwata, Sapiryan, and Adamyan races in the hit fantasy series Encantadia in 2005.

He was last seen in Kapuso Network on primetime fantasy series Victor Magtanggol (2018), topbilled by Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards.

He also appeared in recent historical epic films such as Heneral Luna (2015) and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral (2018).

On social media, friends and fellow actors shared their fondest memories to celebrate the legacy of Miguel.

On Facebook, Pinky Amador wrote, "Oh my dearest Miguel Faustmann we have been together in so many plays, various roles, and creative relationships.
And always, always with so much fun, and deeply memorable times. Vaya con Dios. Thank you for all the 💗💗💗"

JM Rodriguez looked back on his happy moments with Miguel backstage.

He said, "I will never forgot all our funny moments backstage. All your stories. You smoking …. and throwing your cigarette before entering stage right…followed by smoke. You were such a kind person to everyone and will definitely be missed. Give Tita baby, Tito Bibot and Junix a hug for me in heaven ❤️"
