GMA-7 to Air Face Off Between Undefeated Boxers Mayweather and Canelo in “The One”

The much-awaited fight titled “The One: Floyd Mayweather VS. Canelo Alvarez” airs via satellite from Las Vegas on GMA-7 on Sunday, September 15 at 2:15 P.M. (after Sunday All-Stars).

“Youth is on his side,” said six-division world champion Oscar De La Hoya who mentors the 23-year-old Mexican Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez became a professional boxer at 15 and earned his first title at 18, winning his first world title at the age of 21. He is now the WBC Super Welterweight World Champion.

“Canelo is a solid competitor,” WBA Super World Super Welterweight Champion 8-time, 5-Division world champion Mayweather has been quoted as saying. He went on to say that Alvarez is “banking on his youth; I’m banking on my experience. I have a lot of experience in championship fights.” The thirty-six-year-old boxing champion has famously defeated Mexican boxing greats Juan Manuel Marquez and Oscar De La Hoya in the past.

Is Canelo Alvarez “The One” who would finally give Mayweather his first taste of defeat or would Mayweather be “The One” to remove Alvarez off the undefeated list? Both fighters have never had a loss proving that this bout is as big as it can get.

Mayweather has 44 wins, 26 by knock-out; and Alvarez has 42 wins, 30 by knock-out. The 12-round fight is for Canelo’s WBC, WBA and Ring Magazine Super Welterweight World Championships and Mayweather’s WBC Super Welterweight Super World Championship.

The exciting fight can also be followed live on GMA’s flagship AM station, Super Radyo DZBB 594 MHz at 10:00 A.M.
