Miss World Philippines 2022 Gwendolyne Fourniol continues to advocate for her chosen organization, the ERDA Foundation, this time by calling for donations from her followers.
In a post on her Instagram account, Gwendolyne posted several photos of her with some of the kids from the ERDA Foundation, capping it off with a graphic showing the different ways her followers can help out the organization. The ERDA Foundation is a non-government organization that was founded in 1974 and “envisions a nation where all children and youth have access to quality education and holistic development in a supportive environment for them to have a better life.”
In the caption, Gwendolyne also shared that she will be sending the children a care package and that any of her followers interested in sending school supplies, books, educational resources or clothes can do so as well. She also announced that she will be selling some of her outfits with the profits given to ERDA Foundation.
The post follows the one Gwendolyne made four days ago showing her at the ERDA Foundation with fellow Miss World Philippines winners Miss Eco International 2022 Kathleen Paton, Miss Environment Philippines 2021 Michelle Arceo, and Mister World Philippines Kirk Bondad.
The call for donations is just the latest act by Gwendolyne in support of a social cause. During Pride Month in June, Gwendolyne took to Instagram to greet the members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Gwendolyne wrote that no one should be oppressed for their sexuality, and then expressed her gratitude at being able to work with “diverse individuals from the LGBTQ+ community” as their “tenacity, warmth and persistence” have inspired her.
Support of social causes is an intergral part of the Miss World pageant, and something that previous Miss World Philippines Tracy Maureen Perez performed well in. During the Miss World 2021 pageant, Tracy made it to the final round of the pageant's Beauty with a Purpose challenge alongside the candidates from England, India, Kenya, South Africa, and the United States.
The Beauty with a Purpose challenge was also part of the Miss World Philippines pageant, with current reigning Miss Supranational Philippines Alison Black being one of the top 10 finalists.
