Miss World Philippines 2022 Gwendolyne Fourniol, along with other winners of the Miss World Philippines pageant, visited an education-focused NGO (non-government organization) in a show of support for the reigning Miss World Philippines' advocacy.
In a post on Gwendolyne's account, she put up a photo of her with Miss Eco International 2022 Kathleen Paton, Miss Environment Philippines 2021 Michelle Arceo, and Mister World Philippines Kirk Bondad at the ERDA Foundation.
The ERDA Foundation is an NGO founded in 1974 and “envisions a nation where all children and youth have access to quality education and holistic development in a supportive environment for them to have a better life.” It is also the advocacy that Gwendolyne supports.
In the caption to the post, Gwendolyne says that seeing the children thrive in a supportive environment has inspired her to continue raising awareness of the good work that the organization does.
This isn't the first time that the current reigning Miss World Philippines has expressed her support of a social cause. Back in June, Gwendolyne took to Instagram to greet the members of the LGBTQIA+ community a happy Pride Month Gwendolyne wrote that no one should be oppressed for his or her sexuality, and then expressed her gratitude at being able to work with “diverse individuals from the LGBTQ+ community” as their “tenacity, warmth and persistence” have inspired her.
Social causes are a big part of the Miss World pageant, and something that worked in the favor of previous Miss World Philippines Tracy Maureen Perez. In last year's pageant, she made it to the final round of the pageant's Beauty with a Purpose challenge alongside the candidates from England, India, Kenya, South Africa, and the United States.
The Beauty with a Purpose challenge was also part of the Miss World Philippines pageant, with current reigning Miss Supranational Philippines Alison Black being one of the top 10 finalists.
