Mikael Daez reveals: 'I can only wish that Midnight Snack gets the same success as Bubble Gang'

Kapuso viewers were used to seeing Mikael Daez in GMA's drama series, from Amaya to My Beloved, to his first lead role as Carlos Miguel in Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga, to the morning program With A Smile. So when he joined Bubble Gang around six months ago, many were quite surprised to find out that he can also do comedy. Lately, he also hosts the Midnight Snack segment in the late night news program Saksi.

So what has the Kapuso leading man learned as a Bubble Gang regular?

"In terms of the craft, ang dami mong matututunan because you are exposed to so many different styles. You have Kuya Bitoy who is just a genius in terms of what he does. You have Tonio [Antonio Aquitania], Dos [Boy2 Quizon], you have everyone else just showing off what they have and you kind of pick up their brain and see and observe how they act and how they work and natututo ka along the way," explains Mikael.

As part of the show's latest batch of comedians, Mikael hopes that he will be a valuable cast member. "I was part of a big chunk that was handed to Bubble Gang just a few weeks ago. So we hope to be very useful and valuable additions. Sana may maibigay kami to help the show to keep on growing and evolving. Kasi 'yun nga, ang daming naghahanap ng katuwaan, kasiyahan at kalokohan minsan dito sa Pilipinas and we're more than happy to keep on giving and giving."

Mikael also shared his thoughts on what kept Bubble Gang on air for 18 years. "The sincerity, the passion, the relationships. You see, pagdating talaga sa mga Pilipino, nararamdaman nila ang pagmamahal, ang saya. Naho-hook sila eh. Ilang beses na 'yun nangyari sa mga TV shows, so ako nagpapasalamat ako na nakasama ako sa ganitong proyekto."

We also asked him about his other project, Midnight Snack. "Wow Midnight Snack has been amazing. 'Yun 'yung baby ko. I can only wish na 'yung Midnight Snack gets the same success as Bubble Gang. I mean, I can only hope, I'm working so hard. Minamahal ko siya, minamahal ko 'yung mga kasama ko, 'yung ginagawa ko. And sana ma-translate 'yun sa longevity ng Midnight Snack."

Malaki rin ang kanyang pasasalamat sa team na bumubuo ng Saksi segment na ito. "I can't thank the team enough. Alam ko ako lang ang nakikita sa TV pero kailangan ko talagang magpasalamat at ipaalam sa mga tao na hindi lang ako ang gumagawa ng Midnight Snack. Mayroon kaming team. Yes, maliit lang kami, kaunti lang kami, pero ginagawa talaga namin ang trabaho namin. Minamahal namin ang trabaho namin, and Midnight Snack is a team effort. I'm so proud of my team and what we've done with the show."

Mikael ended the interview with a message to everyone supporting Midnight Snack. "Sa lahat ng nanonood, sana patuloy ang pag-eenjoy niyo ng Midnight Snack at patuloy kong ihahatid in the best way possible ang lahat ng mga pagkain na mahanap natin dito sa Pilipinas at malay niyo, baka sa buong mundo."
