Chai Fonacier

Chai Fonacier bagged a role in the Hollywood film 'Nocebo' which stars Eva Green and Mark Strong.

Actress and singer Chai Fonacier is set to star in an international psychological thriller Nocebo starring Eva Green and Mark Strong.

The Maria Clara at Ibarra star will appear in the film as a Filipino nanny who tries to help Eva Green's character when she suffers from a mysterious illness. She used traditional and folk healing to try and figure out what illness fell upon her employer.

Eva's character's husband, played by Mark Strong, meanwhile, continues to be frustrated, together with her doctors, because of her mysterious illness that still baffles them until Chai's character appears in their lives. However, he feels that their new nanny is not actually helping but is trying to control his wife which he plans to stop.

The title Nocebo is based on the Nocebo effect wherein the patient's negative thinking causes a more negative outcome.

The trailer for the film was released last week and several netizens have already commented on Chai's versatility being able to land a role in a Hollywood film. Not only that, but her co-star, Eva, praised Chai's acting prowess calling her a great actress in an Instagram post.

“Chai is truly a great actress with extraordinary depth and sensitivity and she was an incredible partner - she blew me away!” she posted.

Chai is currently starring in GMA's fantasy-portal series Maria Clara at Ibarra where she plays Lucia, a young woman who was mistaken for a prostitute by Padre Damaso, played by Tirso Cruz III, and was punished and was made fun of in public.

She was then helped by Klay, played by Barbie Forteza, by giving up her earrings to free Lucia when she was brought to jail as per the orders of Padre Damaso. She is also one of the first characters Klay met when she was transported into the novel written by Dr. Jose Rizal.
