(G)I-DLE releases 5th mini album 'I love,' music video for 'Nxde'

After the success of their first full-length album I Never Die in March, K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE is back in the music scene with the release of their 5th mini album I love along with the music video for the title track "Nxde."

According to (G)I-DLE member Soyeon, who led the EP's production process, I love talks about different kinds of love and emotions.

"Through all of it, we wanted to embody the process of finding true love. The true love we ultimately ended up with is self-love, and to be loved just as I am, which is why the first track is 'Nxde,' Soyeon said in the online media showcase of I love.

Miyeon added, "Just like the name itself, this album is an album that only talks about love. And the one who receives love can be our family, friends, or one of the many kinds of love out there."

I love consists of six tracks, including "Nxde," "Love," "Change," "Reset," "Sculpture," and "Dark (X-file)."

Soyeon also suggested the way their fans should listen to the album--from track number six "Dark (X-file)" to the title track "Nxde," a song about self-love.

"The story starts from track six and it continues. If track six represents someone who has first experienced love, the process of love goes from six to two, and you end up being the person in track one.

"The title track 'Nxde' uses the word 'nude' metaphorically to explain the genuine and confident side of me. The word 'nude' can be perceived as a provocative word, and people may think, 'Why is it 'nude'? Isn't it too explicit?' But when I thought of the word 'nude' I thought of my true self, not an undressed version of me," she explained.

The three-minute music video shows each member transforming from showgirl to their true self.

Minnie shared, "The music video of 'Nxde' portrays the duality of a showgirl who represents what the audience wants on stage, not who she really is. It was made in the style of a musical theater and old show. There is an auction scene at an art museum, and you'll also see a modern scene with comments seen on a smartphone. We tried to express stereotypical judgments towards us in many different ways."

As of this writing, the hashtag "I love GIDLE Nxde" is trending on Twitter with more than 20,000 tweets. In these tweets, NEVERLAND expressed their love and support for (G)I-DLE's comeback album.

(G)I-DLE, who debuted in May 2018, is a South Korean girl group formed by Cube Entertainment. The members consist of Soyeon, Miyeon, Minnie, Yuqi, and Shuhua.
