No showbiz yet? Yasmien Kurdi wants daughter to graduate 'with flying colors'

Yasmien Kurdi’s brief but meaty role as Maggie in Anna Karenina marked her television comeback after a two-year hiatus.

Now, the celebrity mom joins her StarStruck batchmates Mark Herras and Jennylyn Mercado in the upcoming GMA Telebabad series, Rhodora X.

Yasmien said she is happy to be reunited with Mark and Jen after 10 years. She had done projects with them years back but separately or not as a love team.

Yasmien continued, “I’m excited and happy, lalo na sa tambalan ni Mark and Jen. Kinikilig na ‘yung mga fans, so I’m really happy sa feedback this early.”

In preparation for Rhodora X, Yasmien slimmed down by more than 50 pounds. She had gained a lot of weight after giving birth to daughter Ayesha Zara in November 22 last year.

She said she lost weight by cutting down on her rice intake and avoiding carbohydrates. She also shied away from soft drinks and coffee, to lessen her sugar consumption.

Yasmien said she is very inspired to work nowadays because of her husband and daughter.

When asked if she would allow her daughter to enter showbiz in the future, Yasmien answered that she would prefer it if Ayesha would start with commercials first, like her when she was five or six years old.

“Kung sa showbiz at a young age, siguro huwag muna kasi dito puyatan and mas stressful,” she said, with much concern.

“Dream ko na makapagtapos siya ng pag-aaral with flying colors. Gusto kong makitang umaakyat siya sa stage. ‘Pag nag-aral siya, gusto kong masipag siya at matuto siyang magkaroon ng goals at malaman ‘yung priorities niya in life,” she added.
