SHINee's Minho releases first solo mini album 'CHASE'

SHINee's Minho has finally released his much-awaited first solo mini-album titled CHASE.

Minho is the final member of SHINee to embark on a solo career, releasing a solo album 14 years after his debut.

"My first solo album will be out. I'm so excited. It captures my stories. I tried very hard for the fans. You always show so much love. I hope you show me even more love this time and tomorrow, and the day after," Minho said on his CHASE Countdown Live on Monday, December 6.

According to Minho, he focused on the storyline of the album and the lyrics of its tracks. He shared, "With this solo album, I wanted to share feelings with the fans, and improve more. This is totally for the fans. From the beginning to the end."

The album contains six tracks, including the title track "Chase," "Run Away" featuring GEMINI, "Prove It," "Waterfall" featuring LIM KIM, "Choice," and "Heartbreak."

For the title track, Minho wanted to express the feeling of emptiness.

"The song is about chasing after someone in their dreams but waking up feeling empty since they didn't reach them. There is a piano loop and arpeggio synth sounds and it has a sentimental and stylish mood.

"It is hip hop R&B which I love. A medium tempo song. As soon as I heard it I knew it was the title. The lyrics were written based on Chase. Chase is about chasing. But I wanted a double meaning using 'let go.' What should be let go of? You will know when you hear it in less than ten minutes," the singer-actor shared.

The hip-hop track "Run Away'' is written by Minho, GEMINI, and Kwaca. According to Minho, the song is about "trying to turn around one's feelings but the relationship is being ruined."

Minho also shared why he chose to include "Prove It" on his debut album. "I like the word 'prove.' That's why I chose it. As I always say, you cheer for me and show me your love endlessly. I know how much love you give me, so I wanted to prove myself to you through my actions."

The EP is now available for streaming on digital music platforms worldwide. CHASE physical copies and the music video for the title track will be available on December 12.

Aside from his album, Minho will hold a two-day fan meeting called "BEST CHOI's MINHO - LUCKY CHOI's" on December 7 to 8 at the Grand Peace Palace in Kyung Hee University. The idol-actor will also celebrate his birthday on December 9.
