Alex Gonzaga's camp issues statement on viral birthday video
The controversial birthday video of Alex Gonzaga remains a hot topic on the internet as it continues to draw mixed reactions from the public.
Alex, who recently celebrated her 35th birthday, was caught on camera smearing icing on a waiter's face. The viral video was uploaded by social media influencer Dani Barretto, but has since been deleted on her Instagram Story.
Meanwhile, Alex's camp issues an official statement yesterday, January 17, to explain what happened and clear any speculations about the now infamous birthday video. Through their publicist Peter Ledesma, the statement was sent to select members of the entertainment media.
The statement read, “Hi and good day, Sir. Michael of Fashion Pulis. This is Peter Ledesma, entertainment columnist and vlogger, and longtime publicist friend of the Gonzaga family.
“Favor, may I clear the issue regarding Alex Gonzaga viral birthday and the waiter Allan.”
Peter then identified that the waiter in the viral video is Allan, whos a long-time friend of Alex Gonzaga's mom, Pinty Gonzaga, according to the statement.
“This Allan, is one of the waiters of Florabelo Resto and Catering Service in Valle Verde, Pasig, is a friend of Mommy Pinty Gonzaga and Soriano family.
“Kaya majority of the event of Gonzaga and Soriano family ay sila ang kinukuha ni Mommy Pinty na mag-cater ng food and beverages. At itong si Allan ay laging kabiruan na Mommy Pinty and Alex at ito ang parating nagse-serve sa kanila.
“Kaya tuwing nagkikita ay binabati agad ni Allan ang mag-mommy, magiliw ito sa kanila. Hindi naman magagawa ni Alex, ang magbiro at magpunas ng cake, kung hindi sila magkakilala ng said waiter na sanay na sa pagiging mapagbiro at kikay ni Alex.”
The statement also clarified baseless claims that the younger sister of Toni Gonzaga was already drunk when that video was taken.
“This is the side of Mommy Pinty na higit na nakakaalam ng istorya ng anak. And one more thing, ay hindi totoong lasing si Alex na tulad ng pinapalabas ng kanyang detractors and bashers.”
As of writing, Alex's birthday video has garnered over 7.5 million views on Twitter. In addition, the names of Mommy Pinty and Alex is still a top trending topic on Twitter Philippines.
