For couples who are having a hard time conceiving a child, they sometimes resort to in vitro fertilization. According to americanpregnancy.org, it is an assisted reproductive technology (ART) commonly referred to as IVF. IVF is the process of fertilization by extracting eggs, retrieving a sperm sample, and then manually combining an egg and sperm in a laboratory dish. The embryo(s) is then transferred to the uterus. The cute little daughter of celebrity doctors Vicki Belo and Hayden Kho was conceived through in vitro fertilization. In a TV interview, Dr. Vicki admitted that they indeed sought the help of a surrogate mother, but Scarlet Snow is 100% their biological daughter after rumors circulated that only Hayden is the biological parent. The American-Mexican surrogate mother gave birth to Scarlet on March 3, 2015.
According to Ricky Lo's column in May 2016, Vicki and Hayden allegedly shelled out close to $200,000 (roughly PhP8 million) for the procedure.
Joel Cruz, who became known as a multi-millionaire perfume entrepreneur and earned the monicker “Lord of Scents” has also opted for the pricey in vitro fertilization procedure. All of his seven kids, the first six are in fact twins, came from a Russian woman named Lilia who was the source of the egg cells.
A showbiz website reported that his eldest twins cost him around Php 7 million in 2013.
People didn't know that former child actress turned city councilor Maybelyn dela Cruz and her husband Michael Fernandez are among the personalities who decided to undergo in vitro fertilization. They waited nine years for their baby Mia Olivia. Through in-vitro fertilization at the Lee Women's Hospital (LWH) in Taichung, Taiwan, the former child star got pregnant in 2016.

Former actress Beth Tamayo had also opted for in vitro fertilization to bear a child. Back in 2007, she revealed that she tried the procedure because she and husband Johnny Wong were trying to have a baby for the past two years. Prior to this the actress suffered a miscarriage.
Beth has since separated with her husband Johnny, since she left the Philippines in December 2008.
Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairperson Liza Diño and her husband Ice Seguerra is already preparing to conceive a baby through in vitro fertilization. Ice recently revealed that he has successfully produced healthy eggs for freezing as part of the egg retrieval process for in vitro fertilization.
Liza and Ice have also found a potential sperm donor from a cryobank. The "Pagdating ng Panahon" singer said about the potential donor: “He's an artist, summa cum laude siya, he finished Sociology. 'Tapos he's a musician. He's a classically trained singer, he plays the guitar, and other instruments, and during his spare time, he loves to cook. Yun na rin yung gaya ng asawa ko.”
