Kate Valdez teases character in 'DreamWalker' TV adaptation

By Jansen Ramos

Kate Valdez is now gearing up for her new project after working on the hit GMA Afternoon Prime series Unica Hija.

The Kapuso actress is set to headline DreamWalker, a TV adaptation of the horror comic series of the same title.

In her Instagram post today, February 16, Kate gave a sneak peek at her character in the upcoming project who's inspired by the actress herself. DreamWalker writer and creator Mikey Sutton revealed that it was written for Kate even before she was attached to star in the adaptation.

Kate shared a glimpse of her look in the action-fantasy series, based on the cover of the comic series where she plays a paranormal Pinay vlogger named Kat. In one photo, Kate is seen holding a sword.

Kat travels throughout other parts of the Philippines investigating supernatural events. However, she developed extraordinary powers after being the only survivor of a bus accident in Pampanga.

Kat discovers that she has the ability to enter people's dreams and steal objects from them to fight demons and monsters. She can use those items until the dreamer wakes up; thus, they vanish. Kat uses her powers to fight monsters based on Philippine myths like “tikbalang”, “manananggal," and “aswang”.

DreamWalker was illustrated by Noel Layon Flores who also works for GMA as the lead visual designer of Voltes V: Legacy and Encantadia (2016) which also starred Kate.

DreamWalker Book 1 released its first printout copy last February 2022 under Second
Skin Publications in the US. Comic Odyssey, Comic Quest, and YourComic Shop now sell
the Philippine edition of Dream Walker Book 1. It features a new cover from Flores with
the image of a sword before the Philippine flag. Book 2 was released last July 2022.
