Beyond love, the Aljur Abrenica and Kylie Padilla story

It started with a Wushu workshop. They saw each other for the first time and immediately, sparks flew everywhere. Find out how Aljur Abrenica and Kylie Padilla went from admiring each other to becoming the love of each other’s life.

GMANetwork.com caught up with the lovely Kapuso couple. In separate interviews, they shared how their beautiful story started.

Aljur mentioned that his first impression of Kylie was that she was very reserved.

He said, “Noong nakita ko itong girl na ‘to, very interesting, eh. Very mysterious siya, sobrang tahimik at mahiyain. Laging nakatakip ‘yung mukha niya noon. Parang hindi siya ma-reach ng mga tao.”

Needless to say, it was love at first sight for both of them. Kylie shared that even before meeting Aljur, she already had a huge crush on the Kapuso hunk.

“Noong nakita ko siya in person, lalo ko siyang naging crush,” said the Adarna lead actress.

The Kambal Sirena leading man told us, “Minahal ko na si Kylie noong nakita ko siya. It’s something that you can’t explain. It doesn’t normally happen everyday. Noong nakita ko na siya, sabi ko there’s something in this girl na pagkatapos ng training na ‘yun, dala-dala ko pa rin siya sa utak ko mga ilang araw at nag-hope ako na sana makita ko pa siya ulit.”

After their initial meeting, Kylie immediately searched Aljur online. She saw one of Aljur’s interviews, where he was asked who his showbiz crushes are. He mentioned Kylie Padilla.

What was Kylie’s reaction upon watching the video?

She answered, “Nakakagulat kasi hindi pa ako lumalabas sa TV nito. Sabi ko, wow! Sino ako para i-mention niya?”

“Para akong tanga noon sa bahay. Tumatalon ako kasi siyempre, ‘pag nalaman mong crush ka ng crush mo, talagang kikiligin ka,” continued Kylie.

Aljur and Kylie both got their wish because destiny allowed them to cross paths again. Aljur was invited as a surprise guest for Kylie Padilla’s 18th birthday celebration in an orphanage.

Aljur recalled, “Galing ako sa taping ng Machete. Puyat na puyat ako, tapos 18th birthday niya sa isang foundation para sa mga batang inabandona. In-invite ako for a surprise kasi nga daw crush niya ako. Parang wow, kasi talagang crush ko rin siya.”

“Na-surprise naman siya at mas nakilala ko siya. Sobrang kulit na bata. Parang nakita ko ‘yung sarili ko. Ako kasi sobrang sporty ko at sobrang kulit ko. Walang nakakasabay sa akin, pero itong babaeng ito, nakita ko sa kanya ‘yun,” he said.

After that, Aljur and Kylie started texting and calling each other. They bonded through common interests like martial arts, target shooting and sports. They would also eat out and watch movies just like any other couple.They became closer and ultimately fell in love.

What do they love most about each other?

Kylie said, “He’s a man of God. ‘Yun ang gusto ko sa kanya. Sa showbiz mahirap dahil lahat ng temptations nandiyan na lahat, pero ang kakaiba sa kanya, I can trust him.”

Aljur stated, “I felt love from her talaga. Even sa isang sitwasyon na the least na puwede niyang piliin ay ako, ako pa rin ang pinipili niya. Kahit busy siya at marami siyang priorities, she makes time. Hindi siya naghahanap ng time. Gumagawa siya ng time. ‘Yun ang sweetest thing about her.”

What is the most romantic thing that Aljur has done to Kylie?

“Everyday. Hindi ko mapipili dahil sweet siya everyday. Lahat ng hindi mo i-e-expect na sasabihin ng isang boyfriend sa isang girlfriend, sinasabi niya everyday,” said Kylie.

“Ang dami ko nang nagawa. Mineet ko na ‘yung tatay niya, ginawan ko na siya ng video, kinantahan ko siya sa harap ng maraming tao,” stated Aljur.

Kylie mentioned that she will be making Valentine’s plans this year because Aljur always manages to come up with countless ways to surprise her.

How would the couple describe their relationship?

“We’re still adjusting and still maturing, pero we’re still in love,” said a blushing Kylie Padilla.

Aljur said, “I don’t know if people will understand pero sa akin kasi, it’s beyond love. When I say beyond love, you want her to be strong. Kung ano man ‘yung circumstances, I want us to be strong individually. Wala man ako, she’ll be fine. Kung wala man siya, ganun din ako. Hindi ‘yung love na kailangan mo siya, ‘yung may kukunin ka sa kanya.”

He added, “Haharapin namin ang lahat and we can be the best all the time. Lahat 'yan - when it comes to work, professionalism, credibility, even when it comes to our relationship with God. Dapat nagtutulungan kami at nagbibigayan kami.”
