Sparkle Artists

Sparkle Stars David Licauco, Shaira Diaz, Luis Hontiveros, Cassy Legaspi, and Dave Bornea are all set to make their mark in the movie scene with their newest projects: “Without You,” “Ako si Ninoy,” and “Oras de Peligro.”

From romance to musicals to political movies, Kapuso viewers have a lot of film genres that they can choose from and binge-watch!

In the Valentine film “Without You,” under the helm of RC Delos Reyes, David, Shaira, and Luis play the role of Axel, Ria, and Howie, respectively.

David shared how he prepared for his role and how it was like working with Shaira again, “'Yung preparation ko is kailangan talagang aralin 'yung whole script and scene. Kung kailangan mong ma-in love, kailangan mong i-prepare 'yung sarili mo na-in love ka. As an actor, maraming kinds of preparation para mapunta ka doon sa specific emotions na kailangan. Working with Shaira, she's my first on-screen partner so hindi po kami nagkailangan sa kissing scenes and instrumental po ito para mapakita 'yung love.”

Kloseta po ako rito, which is very challenging for me. Talagang pinagpuspusan ko 'yung pagre-research at naghanap ako ng mga taong kakilala ko na may similar experiences sa buhay. It's not my first time doing a gay role pero I would say 'yung pagka-closet gay, 'yun 'yung pinaka nahirapan ako kasi I can't go over the top na masyado akong flamboyant and I can't be too minimal na wala kang hit.”

Meanwhile, Cassy took on the role of Ingrid in the film adaptation of the stage musical titled “Ako si Ninoy,” directed by Vincent Tañada. She admitted that her role was quite different from what she usually does, “The role is quite challenging po, especially it's my first movie ever tapos musical pa. It's also a heavy drama, so there are many firsts in this movie for me. Although it was challenging, I had fun, and as an actor you always have to level up. I hope people will appreciate my portrayal here.”

She also added that this historical movie is very timely, especially to her generation, “Na-experience ko 'yung feeling as a Gen Z learning about the past through my character. Parang it's learning to apply what we learned about history. I'm super happy that now there are shows and movies about our history because sometimes we tend to forget 'yung history, 'yung past, and there are a lot of things we can learn from it that we can apply in today's time.”

Lastly, Dave expressed his excitement upon reaching a new milestone in his acting career as he will be playing Jimmy in the political movie “Oras de Peligro” directed by Joel Lamangan. He shared how he adapted to the role and how grateful he was for the opportunity, “To be a versatile actor you need to level up. So kailangan mong i-push 'yung limit mo at 'di ka lang pwede mag-stick sa comfort zone ng work mo. As an actor and kung anuman 'yung magandang materyal at may challenging na role, sobrang nae-excite po ako kasi mas lalo ko nakikita 'yung capabilities ko as an actor. Working with Direk Joel, isa sa mga icon ng industriya, sobrang grateful po ako kasi napakagaling niyang motivator and nakaka-inspire siya lalo na sa mga binibigay niyang insights na gusto niya mangyari.”

Catch and support the movies of the Sparkle artists: “Without You” now showing in cinemas nationwide, “Ako si Ninoy” which premieres on February 22, and “Oras de Peligro” available on March 1.
