With the recent award received by Sparkle artist Joaquin Domagoso and the numerous awards he received for his film, That Boy in the Dark, it's no wonder that his dad, Isko Moreno, is proud of his son for his recent achievements.

In an interview at 'Marites University,' Isko expressed how excited and proud he is of his son for receiving local and international recognition “at a very young age.”

“I think it's a dream of every artist. Bihira kasi yun e, your craft is being recognized abroad tapos your home country recognizes you. Kaya thank you sa NCAA,” he added.

The former Manila Mayor admitted that he was surprised by the numerous awards Joaqun received and congratulated him for the wins while he jokingly said that he only got nominations.

He then recalled what he said to Joaquin about his awards, “Sabi ko, 'Parang binibigyan ng diin yung hirap, pagod at dedication mo sa iyong field.'”

On February 22, both Joaquin and Jeric Gonzales attended the awarding ceremony of the 2023 Ani ng Dangal held at the Malacañang Palace.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts recognized Jeric for bagging the Best Actor award at the Harlem International Film Festival in New York for the film Broken Blooms (produced by BenTria Productions) and Joaquin Domagoso for being the Best Actor at the 16th Toronto Film and Script Awards in Canada for the movie That Boy in the Dark.

Joaquin, meanwhile, also felt proud that their film was given the opportunity to be seen internationally. He added that for him, the news about his baby, Scott, and the awards he received are both blessings and did not balance the other out as others might've thought.

“All for me is that I'm proud of what I'm doing and I know naman na hindi naman dahil ginawa ko 'to, I got it all because of me, it's through the help of my manager, director, everybody that helped me get here,” he said.

He added, “Scott, all that, it's been a great start to a wonderful year.”
