Kapuso Pop Rocker Anthony Rosaldo opened the new month by rehearsing for the upcoming 2023 production of the well-loved Ang Huling El Bimbo where he is set to portray the role of Young Hector.
In a message sent to GMANetwork.com, Anthony admitted that he felt like it was his first day of class again.
“The last time I felt this sobrang tagal na. Parang first day high 'pag pasukan na sa school. I've been preparing a lot for this, nag-gym ako ulit para kundisyon katawan ko para sa dance and music rehearsals,” he said candidly.
“Nakakapagod talaga siya lalo na 'yung dance rehearsals. Nitong recent music rehearsals naman, na-test yung endurance ko sa pagkanta and talas ng isip sa pagmemorize ng assigned na tono sakin ng mga songs.
“All of it was hard work and for sure makikita lahat 'yan ng mga manonood sa amin sa Ang Huling El Bimbo kasi we're giving our 100% kahit ngayon pa lang ensayo,” he shared.
Starring in the theatre for the first time in his career, Anthony didn't see much difference compared to performing on television.
“Hindi naman ako nanibago. Actually, in terms of professionalism, pareho lang ng intention ang TV at teatro, dapat focus ka sa trabaho” he added. “Sa TV kailangan mabilis din ang pick up mo kasi ibibigay sayo 'yung pyesa, kanta or script mo, the following day need mo na agad i-perform.
“Sa teatro naman isang buong show na worth more than 2 hours of acting, singing, and dancing ang need mo i-memorize wholeheartedly to the point na magiging muscle memory mo na lahat ng scenes mo kasi ilang beses mo ito need i-perform ng LIVE, walang take one or take two, LABAN NA AGAD. Kung ano na 'yung nai-perform mo, 'yun na 'yun, wala nang bawian.”
In the end, Anthony admitted that Ang Huling El Bimbo would not be an easy thing to do but he's up for the challenge.
“'Ang Huling El Bimbo is not an easy musical. There are lots of facets to AHEB kaya intense talaga ang ensayo namin kasi gusto namin 'yung best na maibabahagi namin sa opening night ganun din ang mapapanood ng mga tatangkilik sa amin hanggang sa last night,” he ended.
