David Licauco, Thea Astley, BEY and Timmy Albert sign with Universal Records

What musical surprises do David Licauco, Thea Astley, BEY, and Timmy Albert have in store?

Sparkle artists David Licauco, Thea Astley, singer-songwriter BEY, and indie artist Timmy Albert are all excited to share and show off their music after signing with Universal Records.

In an interview with Aubrey Carampel on 'Chika Minute' for 24 Oras, the four Sparkle talents spoke about their hopes and goals. For the Pambansang Ginoo, he aims to develop and showcase his talents as a singer.

“I'm venturing into singing and let's see what I can do. I have to go to vocal lessons siguro para mas gumanda at mas maipakita ko 'yung kakayahan ko as a singer,” he said.

Thea Astley, meanwhile, entered into a co-management and recording deal with the record label.

Asked what she wants to achieve out of this partnership, she answered, “'Yung public po kasi, sanay sila na naririnig ako on All-Out Sundays na puro mga birit so hopefully, ngayon naman, marinig naman nila yung kung ano talaga yung music ko personally.”

Singer and songwriter BEY is the person behind the song "Close 2 U," the music video of which featured The Write One actor Ruru Madrid. She's happy that she's being given more opportunities to show people what she can do.

“'Close to You' was the first song that I wrote so it's exciting that now I have this opportunity to kinda branch out to more opportunities,” she said.

Timmy Albert, on the other hand, is already preparing to release several songs this year.

“So pwede niyo abangan 'yung mga songs na mare-release, tuloy-tuloy na yan,” he added.

GMA Network Senior Vice president Annette Gozon, meanwhile, said that she and the network consider Universal Records “not just partners, we've been friends.”

The top GMA executive also said, "We really trust them with the music business and I think that our collaboration will build more multi-media stars.

Kathleen Dy-Go, Managing Director of Universal Records Philippines, expressed how happy she is that their “long discussion” with Sparkle GMA Artist Center has finally come to a fruition.

“We signed four artists today and, especially Mr. David Licauco,” she added.
