GMA Network anti piracy campaign

In its fight against piracy, GMA Network tapped Kapuso stars to lead new anti-piracy campaigns.

In its fight against piracy, GMA Network is releasing two new video campaigns encouraging viewers to “Stream Responsibly. Fight Piracy.” And according to GMA's First VP and Head of International Operations Joseph Francia, “Nag sisimula pa lang po tayo sa ating campaign.”

In an interview with GMANetwork.com after the anti-piracy symposium held on March 29, Joseph Francia said that the campaign that is currently being done by the network will have a “bayanihan style.”

“Lahat po tayo kasama sa campaign na ito at within the network itself, meron tayong advocacy na maging part of the conversation, itong effort na ito, among our stars, producers, and even among the employees within GMA Network so may internal campaign tayo na ginagawa, bahagi po nito,” he said.

He added, “Sa palabas naman, kukuha tayo ng ating mga young stars tulad ni Barbie Forteza, our breakout star from Maria Clara at Ibarra, at 'yung ating Voltes V cast ay tumutulong po dito sa ating campaign na ito.”

According to Joseph, they chose young stars such as Barbie and the cast of the upcoming Voltes V: Legacy stars Miguel Tanfelix, Ysabel Ortega, Matt Lozano, Radson Flores, and Raphael Landicho because the target demographic of the campaign is the younger generation.

He also added that they chose the cast of the mecha series and Barbie “for many reasons.”

They chose Barbie Forteza because she's one of the stars behind the success of Maria Clara at Ibarra.

Joseph said that they're also hoping to work with the other stars of the network, but that “hindi lang magka-panahon ngayon para makunan sila ng material.

He added, “Yung cast ng Voltes V medyo bata sila, yung fan base nila, medyo sa kabataan. Although yung Voltes V, as a material itself, kaya bagay na bagay, dahil marami siyang fans na mga retro, 'yung ibang genertaion, 'yung '70s and '80s. May appeal na sa kabataan yung Voltes V cast, may appeal pa yung Voltes V content itself dun sa older demographic,” he said, expressing his hope that this would be the “perfect formula” for an effective campaign.
