Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz is in a jolly good mood as she takes her new Kia Stonic for a spin.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz just received one of the prizes promised to her for her winning the Women's 55kg Weightlifting competition.
The Filipina weightlifter took her brand-new Kia Stonic as a "gift of gratitude" from The Ayala Foundation and Kia Motors Philippines.
The conglomerates mentioned in their July 29 social media post that they have been supporting Filipino weightlifters since 2016.
As Hidilyn's mandatory quarantine ended, she took her new golden yellow car out for a spin.
“The golden girl gets her golden car!” The Ayala Foundation said in a Facebook post. “Hidilyn Diaz takes her brand-new Kia Stonic for a test drive.”
In a statement released by Kia Motors, Hidilyn said, "Thank you sa pag-recognize sa pagka-panalo ko. Thank you so much na na-appreciate ninyo yung nagawa ko para sa bansa."
The Kia Stonic 2021 is a subcompact five-seater SUV with a price tag ranging from ₱735,000 to ₱925,000 in the Philippines.
It is the second car that has been pledged to Hidilyn, after Foton Motor Philippines promised the gold medalist of a new TransVan 13-seater.
Among Hidilyn's prizes are a house and lot, condominium unit, unlimited miles on airlines, a lifetime supply of fuel, and even free meals for life at various restaurants.
