OPM icon and seasoned actress Celeste Legaspi delivered an emotional moment at the first table read of The Notebook: The Musical, wherein the legendary star was casted as the older Allie.
The opening night of this production, which is slated in September, is based on the popular novel of Nicholas Sparks. In 2004, the film adaptation of the novel was released starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams.
Theatre Group Asia uploaded on Facebook a two-minute clip of the table read featuring Celeste and the rest of the cast and everyone was visibly crying with the heartfelt performance of the veteran actress.
They captioned the post, “Consider this your official bring tissues on show day warning.
“Our Older Noah, Rodolfo Vera and Older Allie Celeste Legaspi had us feeling every single word during our first full table read. September is going to be an emotional one.”
Also part of the stellar cast of the musical are Rody Vera, Morissette, Sheena Belarmino, Benedix Ramos, and Laurence Mossman. Filipino-American director Nicholas Polonio was tapped to direct Theatre Group Asia's The Notebook The Musical.
Aside from being the voice of several iconic OPM hits like “Saranggola ni Pepe,” “Mamang Sorbetero,” and “Gaano Ko Ikaw Kamahal,” Celeste was also part of the Kapuso primetime series Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real with Maricel Soriano and The Master Cutter star Dingdong Dantes in 2014.
