Pageant vlogger Adam Genato has taken to social media to respond to the statement the Miss Universe Philippines organization released about recent comments he made on social media.
In an Instagram Reel that lasts for almost eight minutes, Adam explained the context of his comments about current reigning Miss Universe Asia Chelsea Manalo. He had previously remarked that two other Miss Universe Philippines contestants would have fared better in the Miss Universe pageant than Chelsea Manalo.
“I was asked…who do I want to see representing us next year…Since Barbie-looking si Miss Denmark, siguro ang hinahanap nila si ganito, ganito, ganyan, ganyan,” he explained. “I realize now I should have been more diplomatic and tactful with my choice of words. It is only now that I am realizing the impact of my words to you, to your team, and everyone else.”
Adam explained that while there is no excuse for what he did, he did express that he was hurt by people pointing out that he has been two-faced to Chelsea throughout her pageant journey.
“Kung ano 'yung pinakita ko sa iyo since day one, ganon talaga 'yung enthusiasm ko. It's just that everything just changed after the preliminary performance,” he said. “However, given that, hindi pa rin talaga tama 'yung sinabi ko and I would really like to apologize to you, to Sir Manny (Halasan) most especially who has shown nothing but kindness since I met him.”
He also apologized to the rest of the Miss Universe Philippines team who he says have shown nothing but kindness to him since day one and that he “feels bad” that this is how he is “repaying” them all.

Earlier today, the Miss Universe Philippines released a statement that called out Adam Genato for his comments.
In the statement, the organization called Genato's comments “unfair, insensitive, hurtful and dismissive” of Chelsea's accomplishments. It was also described as “bullying and irresponsible vlogging especially from an accredited MUPH media partner”.
The Miss Universe Philippines organization also wrote that content creators, bloggers and vloggers “should be guided by respect, responsibility and decency” and that they should refrain from making “demeaning statements.”

Chelsea Manalo ended up in the top 30 of the Miss Universe pageant before being named Miss Universe Asia.
After the coronation night, Chelsea has had her celebrity supporters, such as Kapuso beauty queen Michelle Dee who assured her that the country is proud of her.
In one of the more recent posts on her Instagram account, Michelle posted a photo of her crowning Chelsea and telling her that she made the country proud.
It's Showtime host Vice Ganda also expressed their gratefulness for Chelsea on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Residents of Meycauayan City also expressed their support for Chelsea, who they still consider a winner.
“Napakaganda nung performance ni Chelsea kanina and 101 percent binigay niya 'yung best niya,” shared Clemen Pariñas, a member of Meycauayan's LGBTQIA+ community. “I think pagbalik niya naman dito, may naghihintay pa rin sa kaniyang mga opportunities. Alam kong maraming magbubukas na pinto para sa kanya.”
Meanwhile, Lani Villarico, Chelsea's principal when she was in school, could not stop herself from expressing some sadness at the results.
“Hindi ko inaasahan. Nalulungkot kami kasi alam naming kung paano mag-perform si Chelsea. Kahit saan natin tingnan 'yung kanyang mga performance, talagang the best siya. Naiiba siya sa karamihan,” she shared. “Disappointed talaga kami, lalo na ako. Kilala ko 'yung bata na 'yan.”
Nevertheless, she still had nothing but praise for Chelsea's performance.
“Ikaw pa din, the best ka. Alam mo 'yung talagang totoo. Higit sa lahat, ang iyong kakayanan ay ipinakita mo sa madla, sa buong Pilipinas, na ikaw ang pinaka magaling, pinaka mahusay sa lahat,” she said.
