Phillip Lazaro's nephew, Chico Alinell, said that the veteran stand-up comedian, actor, and director died because of multiple organ failures early today, July 11.
In a statement sent to GMANetwork.com, Chico looked back at the last time he saw his uncle alive.
"Yesterday when I was about to go back to the camp, I visited him at his flat, when I saw him sitting at the side of his bed I felt a sudden sorrow about what he looks like, I have a lot to tell him and wanted to conversate with him but I stopped myself because he told me he had a hard time breathing," the statement read.
"From that moment I kissed his forehead and said my goodbye told him to pray and how much I love him.
"So when I got back at camp, I'm so uneasy doing work and had difficulties sleeping, during my morning duty around 7:30 my mom called me and her voice was crying and I hurried asking permission to my officer to run back at the hospital but I never saw tito Phi breathing again.
"Seeing him helpless was my last memory of him and it breaks me apart."
Direk Philip's friends in showbiz paid tribute by posting their fond memories with him on social media.
