Former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach all-out supports her younger sister Sarah Wurtzbach, who recently shared her ongoing battle with PTSD or Post-traumatic stress disorder.
The National Institute of Mental Health defines Post-traumatic stress disorder as a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event.
On her Instagram post last March 22, Sarah shared how she is coping with her mental health struggle.
“It's been a long road and how rough it has been.. but I am so proud that I have come so far from when it all started. I opened the Pandora's box back in late 2020 and my life has changed since.”
Three years ago, Sarah, made the headlines after she publicly expressed her anger towards Pia and their mother, Cheryl Alonzo-Tyndall.
She continued, “It took a lot of time and healing for me to get back into normality as PTSD kicked in and my anxiety was at an all-time high. I can't say that I'm at the end of the road, but I can definitely hold my head up high and say that I'm proud of myself.”
Pia reposted on her Instagram Story her sister's post and encouraged everyone to seek help, especially those struggling with their mental health.
She stated, “So proud of my sister for her progress on her mental health”
“If you have a family member or a friend who is coping with depression, anxiety and/ or PTSD. Don't give up on them please. My sister is an example of somebody who is recovering and doing it the healthy way. I'm so proud of her.”
Sarah has two children with Charlie Manze namely: Logan and Lara.
