Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurztbach on the rise of community pantries in the country, "It is proof of the undying spirit of Bayanihan. However...”

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach fully supports the initiative of Filipinos to establish community pantries to help those in need amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

This inspiring initiative, started by Ana Patricia Non who spearheaded the Maginhawa Community Pantry, provided much needed supplies like food to the less fortunate people in our communities.

Asked by a Twitter follower, Pia shared her sentiments about it and said that community pantry is a “good initiative” because it shows the unique bayanihan spirit of Filipinos.

“Thanks for asking me this! I took some time to really think about it and really understand better what we are faced with as a nation.

“For me, the community pantry is a really good initiative. Yet again, it is proof of the undying spirit of Bayanihan.”

On the other hand, Pia also understands the concerns about the risk of it becoming a super spreader event.

In connection, the Filipina beauty queen encouraged people going to community pantries to follow strict health protocols.

She said, "However, I also understand all the hesitations and concerns esp. with health protocols.

"It's been a year since the pandemic hit and everyone is just trying their best to survive.

"I think it's a call for us to help in any and every way that we can.

"Share what we can, stay home if we can."

She also stressed, "Get vaccinated soon as we get the opportunity. It's a great reminder of what we can achieve together.”

Pia ended her bost by saying, “We can and we should demand a better system.
