
Multi-awarded comedienne and host Pokwang is heartbroken over the death of Aegis vocalist Mercy Sunot.
The OPM rock icon passed away on November 18, 2024, at age 48. Her band members paid tribute to Mercy in a post on Facebook. Aegis said her voice has “touched and inspired” countless people.
“Mercy's voice wasn't just a part of AEGIS--it was a voice that brought comfort, joy, and strength to so many. She has touched countless lives, inspiring fans and lifting spirits with every song she sang. Her passion, warmth, and unforgettable presence on stage will forever be cherished in our hearts.
“Let us come together to celebrate the incredible life she lived and the legacy she leaves behind.
“Mercy, thank you for the music, the love, and the memories.”
Meanwhile, the TicktoClock host paid tribute to her idol Mercy on Instagram.
Pokwang wrote in the caption, “My idol May you rest in peace.
“Salamat sa mga awitin, salamat sa iyong tinig.”
Based on the official statement from the band, the late singer was diagnosed with cancer.
In a separate post, Aegis also announced that their Valentine's concert in February 2025 will be dedicated to Mercy and part of the proceeds will be given to her family.
Aegis is composed of Mercy's siblings Juliet and Ken, while the other band members include Stella Pabico, Rey Abenoja , Rowena Adriano , and Vilma Goloviogo.
