Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had just announced the birth of their daughter, Lili, on the Archewell website.
It was revealed in the official statement that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their second child on June 4, Friday, at 11:40 a.m. at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California.
The baby girl weighed 7 lbs. 11 oz. and was named Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
Baby Lili was named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, whose family nickname is Lilibet.
Her middle name, Diana, was given to her as a tribute to her late grandmother, The Princess of Wales.
Prince Harry and Meghan announced the pregnancy in February 14, Valentine's Day, with a beautiful black and white photo.
Baby Lili is the younger sister of their firstborn, two-year-old Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, who celebrated his birthday on April 6.
She's also the 11th great-grandchild of Her Majesty the Queen.
The official message from Prince Harry and Meghan reads, “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.
“She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe.
“Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”
The royal couple also asked those planning to send gifts to donate to organizations working with women and girls instead, such as Girls Inc., Harvest Home, CAMFED or Myna Mahila Foundation.
The Royal Family has also expressed joy over the birth of Baby Lili on social media.
The news of Baby Lili's birth is a much-needed relief, after the British Royal family has been through a series of challenges over the past year, including the Duchess of Sussex's revelation that she experienced racism within the royal family and the unfortunate passing of Prince Philip.
Congratulations to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on the birth of Baby Lili! We're excited to see her first photo soon.
