Rabiya Mateo lost almost a million pesos after falling victim to an investment scam.
Sparkle beauty queen and Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo, recently learned a valuable lesson after falling victim to an investment scam.
In an interview with 24 Oras, she described how she had trusted a close friend to invest her money without fully understanding the nature of the business. Initially, her investment seemed promising, yielding returns over the first two years. However, the earnings suddenly stopped, resulting in a significant financial loss, amounting to almost one million pesos.
"It's been like two years na okay naman ang investment. So bumabalik naman siya, However, bigla na lang naputol. So ako naman kailangan natin ipagpatuloy 'yung buhay, masakit man, but you know there's still a lot of means for me to get my money back. So I'm still praying and hoping na sana mabalik," she shared.
From this experience, the Kapuso beauty queen has become more cautious, vowing to thoroughly research any future investments before committing to it and shelling out money for it. She hopes that sharing her story will serve as a warning for her fans and netizens.
"Sana sa mga kababayan natin to be very careful with their money. Kasi hard earn 'yan, eh," Rabiya reminded.
Despite the setback, Rabiya Mateo remained focused on expanding her investments in the jewelry business and plans to venture into real estate.
"We really need to be smart with our money kasi alam po natin 'yung showbiz may on season (and) may off seasons. So technically during my off season, I need to do something meaningful pa rin," she explained.
In addition to her entrepreneurial pursuits, Rabiya eagerly shared details of her upcoming projects in showbiz. The Kapuso star anticipated her special role in GMA's upcoming family drama, Pulang Araw, where she would appear alongside Asia's Multimedia Star, Alden Richards.
"Ang masha-share ko lang, masaya 'yung scene namin ni Alden (Richards). It's historical pero may comedic side din. So its a lighter aspect sa teleserye," she teased.
