The Miss Universe Philippines Organization will be crowning a new Miss Universe Philippines in the coming weeks, and former titleholder Rabiya Mateo wants pageant fans to watch out for it as the organization has planned something “better and bigger.”
In an interview at the sidelines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 97 opening ceremonies, Rabiya also responded as to what viewers and pageant fans should look forward to in the upcoming pageant.
“Things are going to be better and bigger. I haven't spoken yet with Sir Jonas Gaffud, but I heard that they have big plans and it's going to be in an actual event with a live audience,” she shared.
Pressed for details, the Miss Universe Philippines 2019 winner gave only one detail
“Hindi ko alam kung puwede siya manggaling sa akin kasi insider info lang din siya! Baka mapagalitan ako!” she responded with a laugh. “'Yung idea is he wants to have a very long runway. It means na malaki talaga 'yung event na ito for the girls.”
Rabiya also had some practical advice for the women competing in Miss Universe Philippines this year, as well as what they should look forward to considering the spectacular run that Beatrice Luigi Gomez had in last year's Miss Universe pageant.
“Ang ma-advice ko lang is to put in your hard work. This is a great platform na ma-expose kayo. You never know after this kung anong magiging career n'yo,” she said. “Naniniwala din ako sa org and they're working with the best of the best. Mate-train nila kung sino man 'yung magiging winner to be ready sa next competition.”
While there are no clear frontrunners for the Miss Universe Philippines pageant as of now, some familiar names have been topping the challenges organized by the organization. One name in particular is Michelle Deee, who has been in the top three for both the swimsuit challenge and the casting video challenge.
