We are again witnesses to Janno’s reinvention of himself. Host, singer and actor, find out how Janno wears his different hats.
Funny man Janno Gibbs has been known to be very versatile when it comes to his craft. He has proven that he is a top-caliber singer/composer via his successful album releases. His funny side is highlighted by various roles he has portrayed on television and on the silver screen. This time around we are again witnesses to Janno’s reinvention of himself. Text by Loretta G. Ramirez Fresh from the launch and success of his album Little Boy, Janno is now busy with his newest project, hosting Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5? Not a newbie when it comes to hosting, this show however is Janno’s first time to be hosting solo. The Chairman of the Blackboard starsKnown as the King of Soul, Janno Gibbs now dons on a new title, the Chairman of the Blackboard. Hosting the game show that will test your memory and brainpower, Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5?, Janno describes his experience in the newest game show of GMA 7 saying “First time kong maghost ng solo na game show,” admits Janno during the press conference of Kakasa Ka Ba sa Grade 5? He admits that he feels the pressure of doing this show because of its nature and the fact that this was franchised from a very successful international show. “Nakapagtape na kami ng ilang episodes so medyo narerelax na. Nage-enjoy na ako.” Based from the globally acclaimed program of Mark Burnett, Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?, the show features professionals who are challenged to answer questions from grade one to grade five subjects. Janno differentiates himself with Jeff Foxworthy, his foreign counterpart, and declares that he has given the show his personal touch to make the Filipino viewers warm up to the show. “Iba 'yung humor nating mga pinoy pero pareho lang iyong pang-aasar namin, tama lang.” Working with Kids starsAlthough he has two daughters himself, Janno describes the experience of working with kids as an eye opener. “Nakakatuwa at nakakagulat kasi hindi ako ganyan (laughs). Sila ang tatalino nila. Nakakagulat 'yung mga alam nila,” says Janno about his class of ten. These children are in the show to help the contestants answer the questions and win the jackpot prize of 1 million pesos. He also said that there is an added bonus with working with these children. “Iyon ang kagandahan ng show na ito. Dito talagang hindi ako pwedeng i-link kahit kanino sa kasama ko (smiles),” declares Janno mischievously. Catch the Chairman of the Blackboard in Kakasa Ka Bas a Grade 5?
