EXCLUSIVE: Jennica Garcia confirms breakup with husband Alwyn Uytingco

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

Jennica Garcia confirmed to GMANetwork.com that she and husband Alwyn Uytingco have broken up.

In an exclusive virtual interview, Jennica admitted that financial problems pushed her to return to showbiz after eight years.

"From a family-of-four, we are now just a family-of-three, sacrifices must really be made."

When asked about the details of their separation, Jennica respectfully declined.

"That's the most that I could say right now. That's the most that I can say now. It's the reason din kasi talaga kung bakit kinailangan [ko] bumalik sa pag-a-artista," she said.

Jennica is part of GMA's afternoon drama Las Hermanas, playing the role of Brenda, the antagonist of Yasmien Kurdi's character Dorothy.

"For the past seven to eight years, what I did was, I made this decision to really focus on my kids, and to do that, hindi talaga ako puwede gumawa ng teleserye," she said.

"Kasi three times a week ang taping noon, so ang ginagawa ko lang is guestings kung saan two to three days max 'yung trabaho.

"Wala kang commitment to that show for months and years. And it was working naman with our setup before.

"I'm very grateful to GMA-7. I thank the Lord for blessing me with GMA-7 because their arms are so welcoming towards me.

"Kaya maraming, maraming salamat talaga."

Now that she's a single mom, Jennica promised that she will stay in the show business for a long time.

"Definitely, definitely. If GMA is open and really welcoming me fully as an artist, my heart will be so happy."
